Allow yourself enough lead time for pre-sale work if you’re planning to sell your San Francisco home this Spring.
Though some wise future sellers start strategizing in January or February, others wait until April or May. At that point, painters, stagers, contractors and other critical tradespeople may be booked well in advance.
You need to allow at least two- to four weeks of prep time for a home that needs a paint job, carpet replacement, floor refinishing, decluttering, landscaping, repairs or other typical pre-sale prep work. And that’s just to get the work completed. In my experience of doing the legwork for my seller clients, you’ll need to budget another week or so to get estimates and discuss the scope of the work before hiring everyone.
If you’re considering selling this Spring, put your Realtor in place so he or she can set up a master plan to guide you through the process from beginning to end. And be prepared to make decisions quickly!
