Check out CRIMEMaps

One of the best resources I’ve found for researching crime incidents in San Francisco is the CRIMEMaps Web site. Launched a few years ago by the San Francisco Police Department, the site allows you to type in an address and view all the reported incidents within a certain radius and within the last 90 days. It’s a great tool for those individuals who want to do their due diligence when considering purchasing a home.
The site’s interface is a bit text heavy and somewhat clunky, but it gets the job done. Once you type in your address and desired criteria, a map will appear with color-coded symbols indicating the various reported crimes nearby. You can click on the symbols to get the details. For example, I just clicked on a yellow dot and discovered there was a battery and assault incident right around the block from my home over the past week! CRIMEMaps is a lot of fun.
